Frequently Asked Questions: How many coats should I apply? For most situations, especially in showers, we recommend applying 3 coats. How long should I wait between coats? The first coat is the most important. Allow at least 3–6 hours for it to dry and cure properly. If you apply the second coat too soon, you could trap moisture underneath, resulting in blotchy areas that may not go away.
